The Whatlings’ Family Trees
From Suffolk to The Wirral
We can trace the ancestors of Ken Whatling through 16 generations to William Watling of Worlingworth 1440 – 1503.
They lived in Suffolk for over 400 hundred years – in Brome,Wilby,Horham,Hoxne ‘Hundred’ (including Stradbroke and Wingfield) before moving to Norwich in the early 19th century and on to Birkenhead in the late 19th century.
One possible reason for the move North was the need for carpenters on The construction of the Manchester Ship Canal?
